This morning, I picked up Dr Lewis' book that he calls his memoirs. I started reading and found this last paragraph of the Foreward by Mark Schatzker, engaging.

"Joe Lewis taught the world about how plants talk to insects. But he gave us something much more important: the wisdom to see the wonder in creation. Too often, we think of that wonder as the enemy of science -- that it must be demystified, controlled and reduced into numbers. Joe shows us that just isn't true. Wonder is not the adversary of science. It is, and will always be, its fuel."
